Katie manages the day-to-day operations of the program, overseeing finance, human resources, faculty affairs, and student services. She has an M.A. in Literature and a certificate in teaching composition from California State University, Sacramento. Prior to starting at Stanford in 2007, she taught reading, writing, and critical thinking courses at the community-college level. Katie originally started as the student services specialist for the Public Policy Program where she spent a year and a half assisiting undergraduates. After her time in Public Policy, she took time off to travel the world - 4 months in 12 different Eastern Europe countries and several more months exploring Thailand and Vietnam - and returned to Stanford to spend the next five years as a Program Administrator at the Stanford School of Medicine for the Neurosciences Ph.D. Program. A Bay Area native, Katie and her husband (also born and raised in Northern California) enjoy traveling, spending time with their nephews and niece, and exploring new restaurants in downtown San Mateo, where they currently make their home.
